Therapeutic Workshops for Young People

Safe, reflective group sessions that support understanding, regulation, and connection

I offer therapeutic workshops for young people designed to support emotional understanding, communication, and self-awareness. These sessions provide a safe space for reflection and learning, particularly for students who may be struggling to engage with education, relationships, or themselves.

Therapeutic workshops often form a gentle bridge between whole-school support and more individualised mentoring, offering young people an opportunity to explore themes in a group setting before deciding whether further support would be helpful.

What the Workshops Cover

My therapeutic workshops address a wide range of challenges commonly faced by young people. Topics may include:

  • Emotional regulation and understanding feelings

  • Managing anger, anxiety, or overwhelm

  • Identity, self-esteem, and belonging

  • Healthy communication and relationships

  • Coping with change, loss, or uncertainty

  • Understanding behaviour and choices

Workshops can be adapted or designed around specific themes or needs identified by the school, ensuring they are relevant and appropriate for the group.

How the Workshops Are Delivered

Each workshop:

  • Is designed for small groups of up to 15 students

  • Includes a workbook for every participant to keep and revisit

  • Is highly interactive, balancing discussion, reflection, and practical activities

Sessions are structured but flexible, allowing young people to engage at their own pace. Participation is always invitational rather than forced, and every contribution is treated with respect.

A Safe and Supportive Space

Creating emotional safety is central to this work. Workshops are facilitated in a way that acknowledges individual comfort levels, ensuring students feel able to listen, reflect, or participate as feels right for them.

There is no expectation for young people to disclose personal experiences. Instead, sessions focus on building understanding, language, and tools that can be applied in everyday life.

How Workshops Link to Therapeutic Mentoring

For some young people, group workshops provide enough support. For others, they highlight a need for more individualised space and continuity.

Where appropriate, therapeutic workshops can gently lead into 1-to-1 or small-group therapeutic mentoring, offering a natural progression rather than a sudden step. This ensures support remains proportionate, thoughtful, and aligned with the young person’s needs.

When Therapeutic Workshops Are Most Helpful

These workshops are particularly beneficial when:

  • Students are struggling with emotional regulation or engagement

  • Schools want targeted support without immediate 1-to-1 intervention

  • Young people would benefit from shared reflection and peer learning

  • Workshops sit alongside trauma-informed staff practice

They work best as part of a wider, trauma-informed approach rather than as a standalone intervention.

Grounded, Ethical Therapeutic Support

My aim is not to “fix” young people, but to offer safe, respectful spaces where understanding can develop and confidence can grow.

If you are considering therapeutic workshops for your students and would like to explore whether this approach is the right fit for your setting, I would be happy to discuss this with you.
